Born in 1943 in Paris, Jean-Philippe Smet was abandoned by his father when he was only 8 months old. His mother entrusted him to his paternal aunt living in Paris. Soon, all the family was moving to London, and Jean-Philippe joined his cousins who were dancers on tour.
